Spur-winged waders are breeding residents found in many areas around the Jordan River Valley, Azraq and elsewhere. A couple were spotted on the highway a little distance before Qasr A'Harrana

تشمل عائلة Charadriidae الزقزاقاوات والطيطاوات وهي طيور صغيرة الى متوسطة الحجم (15-35 سم) أجسادها ملمومة ومكتنزة ذات أعناق قصيرة وثخينة وعلى الاغلب اجنحة ذات نهايات مدببة ومناقير مستقيمة وقصيرة وذيول قصيرة. لا توجد اختلافات تذكر بين ذكور واناث افراد هذه العائلة وتزاوجها أحادي وتدافع بشراسة عن بيوضها وفراخها. تتواجد عادة في بيئات بالقرب من المياه من بحيرات وسدود وتجمعات لمياه الامطاروبرك تنقية المياه العادمة. تستعمل بصرها في الصيد وتتغذى على اللا فقاريات البرية والمائية من حشرات وديدان ورخويات وقشريات.
Little ringed plover and greater sand plover side by side in the River Jordan Valley (RJV)

This greater sand plover was the only individual I saw in the area despite repeated trips to the location. Little ringed plovers were sighted several times in the RJV during spring of 2018. Last sighting was May 8, 2018.

River Jordan Valley
Moderately common migrant arriving around February and migrating back to Europe during early summer months. Common in Azraq and in the Eastern Plateau around rain water accumulations.

March 31, 2018 - Eastern Plateau
Present throughout most of the year and particularly abundant in Azraq area where flocks of hundreds were reported. Can also be found in the Eastern Plateau near rain flood pools and dams. Also recorded but less frequently from the River Jordan Valley.

This little bird is present in Jordan throughout a good portion of the year and mainly as a spring migrant.

Eastern Plateau
Three chicks observed on the muddy banks of a flood pool in the Eastern Plateau. This is clear evidence this bird also multiples in the area besides Azraq and possibly some other areas.
